Atlanta, GeorgiaAtlanta Botanical Garden is 15 acres of gardens, state-of-the-art Conservatory. Atlanta History Center was one of the best trips around Atlanta. When we went there was a civil war reenactment. It was allot of fun. Our kids loved it. They actually had a lots of people in period costumes and such. It was great. Carter Library is the only Presidential Library in the southeastern United States. It is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. If you are a Georgia resident and you have not visited - you are deprived. You can find hundreds of thousands of documents from the Carter Administration. I remember Jimmy Carter as President, while I was in office. One of my vivid memories is US Embassy being taken over by a bunch of armed thugs in Iran. One of my Uncles, who was employed by a defense contractor thought that we should have bombed them back to the stone ages. Center Of Puppetry Arts is a good place to spend the afternoon with the family. There are live puppet shows of various styles and varieties. This quaint facility is housed in an old Atlanta school. There is a great museum. One word of caution - if you have young children - I would skip to museum. There is a trash can puppet, which turns into a large bird. It is big, loud and screamed the Holy Hell out of my son. Centennial Olympic Park is the center piece of our great city. This is located right outside of the CNN center. Take a look around - there are interesting things all over this small park to see. CNN Center is the home of Cable News Network. When friends are traveling into Atlanta, we schedule this trip for the second or third. I have been probably 5 or 6 times. I really enjoy going. One time - I'm going to break down and see a movie at the theater in CNN center. Georgia Dome is the largest cable supported Dome in the entire world and is the home of the Atlanta Falcons. It is located at 1 Georgia Dome Drive, Atlanta, Georgia. My favorite activity here is Supercomm, which is a large communications convention, which was held in Atlanta for a number of years. Georgia Capital was finished in 1889 in the classical renaissance architecture of the United States Capital. built in 1889 and is the seat of power for the state of Georgia. It's exterior is composed of Indiana limestone and the interior is composed of Georgia marble. High Museum Of Art features spectacular displays from a wide venue to include Elton John's collect, Egypt and a variety of other things. While we have not been here yet - it is on the list. Oakland Cemetery is the burial grounds of Confederate and Union soldiers, Georgia's Governors, Atlanta Mayors and Margaret Mitchell. Stone Mountain covers 3,200 acres and features the world's largest mass exposure of granite with a 825-foot high wall. We actually have a season park pass and a good friend is one of the police officers at the park. It is allot of fun. They have just added a completely new set of attractions - a small turn of the century town. It is allot of fun. Make sure to take a trip down the swamp and hear the old ghost story. Turner Field is the home of the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. However make sure you know where your seats are in relation to the sun or you will cook during the day. World of Coca-Cola is Atlanta's single most visited indoor attraction. It has hundreds of Coca-Cola artifacts. Our children love this trip. But what kid would not - I mean all the coke that you can drink. Zoo Atlanta is the home to two Giant Pandas Bears and houses over 250 species of animals from all over the world.
